2016 November Picture-A-Day Project Posted on November 30, 2016by suefinch It was a beautiful warm day today. This little skipper was taking advantage of the sunlight on one of my late roses.Tonight's sliver moon greatly over exposed. I liked how the dark part of the moon shows up. The trees and the grain add that spooky old feel. I also tweaked the white balance to give it that mars like atmosphere. Taken outside Olivedale in Lancaster, OH.I went for a little walk about in Bremen just before sunset. Many of the trees have dropped their leaves now, although there are a few trees still holding on. There was a spot of color along the tracks, but I went for the long leading lines instead. We had a light frost last night. When I got home from my hike today there were several types of butterflies visiting the remaining flowers. This one sat still for me.I didn't get to go out today, and Teddy was upset that I didn't take him with on my 10 mile hike yesterday, so I had to promise he could be in my official 365 Picture-A-Day today. My hat doesn't fit him, but he didn't care. This guy was a very efficient hunter. He caught 3 fish in the short time I was watching him. He kept moving closer and closer even though he knew I was there. I guess he gets enough visitors to know that we aren't going to wade in after him. This annual flower self seeds itself in my garden every year. It usually doesn't start looking nice until the cool fall weather moves in.Conveniently located next to the Brick Bank Trust, the Soap 'n' Suds makes laundering money easy.We had another light frost, but things are still blooming and things are flying around. A few butterflies and lots of bumble bees were working the marigolds around the vegetable garden.I had to make a run to Columbus today so after we got what we needed Jessica and I stopped by Slate Run Metro Park. There was a Columbus school group of young children there. They seemed to have a grasp of where their food came from. When asked if they liked Chicken Nuggets many raised their hand. When asked if they saw the Chicken Nuggets on the way in, even more raised their hand(There is a pen of Chickens near the entrance). This was shot inside the barn.I was out shopping when I noticed the sun was setting so I drove out into the country a bit. The fields had been freshly fertilized, but I held my nose and got the shot. Probably the worst smelling picture I have taken. The mums are finally in full bloom. They have survived the first few frosts pretty well. The oaks are finally changing. There is still a little bit of fall color out there.Playing with LEGO's and light painting again. It makes for an interesting effect, but I'm not sure I like it-need to play with it a bit more. The Oaks still have a bit of color, but it sure feels like winter. We had a few spots of sun peak through and this was in the bright sun for just a few minutes before the clouds moved in again.Jessica brought her axolotl home from school. He is settling back in to his 'home' tank.Sort of a grey day today, so I brought a few flowers inside and played with shadows. This little pond can be found along the Buckeye trail that runs through Boch Hollow. On a warmer day this would probably be a pretty nice place to sit and watch nature for a while. It was a chilly evening down at Lake Logan. This Great Blue Heron kept a wary eye on me, but wasn't about to move from his log. There wasn't much water in Cedar falls today, but the lack of turbulence in the water made for some nice reflections. It was nice to see the sun today. We had to run into Lancaster this evening and Kevin wanted to check out a Light display while we were there. I still needed a picture...so why not. Next time though I need to bring a tripod.I was out in Lancaster picking up my car and noticed a beautiful sunset. Unfortunately by the time I found a place with a decent foreground much of it had faded. This one works though. This little squirrel ran up the Bald Cypress at Rising Park today. I think he though he was hiding. The Bald Cypress has lost most of its needles, so it didn't offer much cover.I had a hike today at Boch. This was on the way there. On the way back I was behind them again. They must have about a three and a half hour trip. This little feather duster showed up in our salt water aquarium. Feather dusters are actually little worms that build a hard tube around their bodies. The feathery part is used to collect food and transport it to the worms mouth. It pulls the feather duster back into the tube when threatened. It's always difficult to figure out the best way to shoot this view. The sun is always in the shot(to the left in the morning and the right in the afternoon(at least in the fall). Today I got a few that I liked because I chose to make the sun part of the composition instead of avoiding it.This picture is a composite and is being posted late because it took a long time to get the computer to process it. The original is over 134MP. In the end it took two different programs to stitch it together because Lightroom couldn't handle the whole file until after all the pictures were combined.
