I am a bit behind on my 52 project. I have had some unexpected trips out of town, but I will catch up. Thank goodness I am not trying to do a 365 this year!
On Monday we had some beautiful weather, and since I am working on a state park project, I decided to visit a park that I had never been to, Strouds Run. The sun was shining and temps were in the 60’s, so I took Tucker with me and we got in a nice hike and drove around a bit to check the place out.
There are a dozen or so trails in the park and most of them are 2-3 miles in length. Some are multi-use for hikes, bikes, and/or horses. I chose to go on the Broken Rock trail that is listed as strenuous, and is for hiking only. It starts with a long uphill, but after that it really was a pretty easy trail.
The trail leads down to the Lakeview trail which you then take back to the parking lot. The water levels are lowered for the winter on Dow Lake, so the shoreline was muddy, and not very picturesque.
With lots of trails to explore, I am sure I will revisit this park when the weather is better and the lake has been allowed to fill. There is a beaver pond I will need to check out, and with trail names like Thunderbunny and Boogie it could be a lot of fun. There are also lots of trails at nearby parks.
The new park signage that marks the trails so well in many of Ohio’s state parks has not been installed here yet, so if you go be sure to pick up a map at the beach house or camp area and carry it with you.
