I have decided to blog our trip one day at a time. The first day was just driving. We drove from Bremen, OH to Texarcana, TX. It took about 13 hours and 893 miles. Just driving and quick meals, so I won’t bore you with the details.
The next day we were driving on lots of two lane roads. Signs warned of gravel on the road, missing center lines, deer crossing and pipeline construction, but this is Texas and that is a 75 mph road, so we made good time. The four lane divided roads (still with cross roads) bumped the speed limit up to 80. In Texas they have so far to go that I guess they don’t really care.
We realized we would not make it to Big Bend Ntl. Park before nightfall, and since we were planning on camping we decided to stop at Monahan’s Sandhill State Park, and camp in the dunes. There was a beautiful sunset-probably the best of the trip.
