July 27th Picture of the day

Pink Water lily PInk Water Lily close up

I have been doing a loose interpretation of a Picture a day project. While I have a picture for everyday, this year I have allowed myself to take multiples on a few days as long as I have one for every day of the month. I fell behind on the editing and hope to get caught up soon. I have pulled out the best from April (76), May (178) and June (92) and still need to narrow them down to 30, 31, and 30. Hopefully I will get to that this week. I have been struggling with the best way to present my work on-line in a timely fashion.

Finding  a way to integrate my FB and web pages so they will both receive traffic has been a challenge. Setting  up a WordPress section to my site will hopefully make it easier to regularly update my website.

Today’s pictures are of a water lily blooming in the small pond in my yard. I have had white lilies there for years and this year I added a pink one. This is the second bloom it has sent up this summer (that I have seen anyway).

Water lilies are interesting in that they open during the day and close at night. They will usually last for 4 or 5 days. This one is a newer flower because the center is still bright yellow. The center of the flower will start to turn brown as pollination occurs.
