At a bird banding station this morning this little guy watches as his measurements are recorded. He was a repeat visitor, having been banded in a different year. Practicing social distancing while getting out. I recommend people avoid Hocking Hills State Park as there were cars and people everywhere. Luckily I have a place to get out that is only open to employees so I was all alone on my hike and had time to enjoy the quiet…

Mike and I were only able to spend a couple of days up at Lake Erie for the spring migrations this year, and the weather wasn’t great…but the birding still was. I managed to get a couple of pictures that I really like.

Spring at Conkle’s Hollow State Nature Preserve – 52 project 18
On April 19th I took a hike in the gorge at Conkle’s Hollow. Even though there were quite a few people there, this park still offers a bit of solitude. Several species of spring flowers were at peak.

Spring has Sprung-52 Week Project-13
Signs of spring. Well maybe not too many would think a flock of turkey vultures was a sign of spring, but these birds were migrating through our yard and spent a couple of days here waiting for the weather to improve. Shortly after the early flowers started to bloom.
