This was one of those photos that almost didn’t happen. After oversleeping on a rainy day, I nearly skipped a scheduled hike at Rockbridge with friends. I decided to go despite the weather. The other hikers had already left the parking lot by the time I arrived, but I caught up with them fairly quickly and had a nice hike in the light rain that was falling on and off. Coming up out of the woods these flowers were at the edge of the trail. After photographing them from several different views and angles, the very first picture was the keeper.
